The “Hand in Hand, United in Beauty” ASEAN-Suzhou People-to-People Exchange Philatelic Exhibition opened at Prince Zhong’s Mansion in the Suzhou Museum on Apr. 18.
During the event, artists gave a stunning performance of “Dream in the Deserted Garden”, a classical episode of the Kunqu opera Peony Pavilion, and Maradonna Talu Leyn, an international student from Indonesia, shared his story of looking for the “Door Gods” in Suzhou. The commemorative envelope themed on the ASEAN-Suzhou People-to-People Exchange Philatelic Exhibition was launched on site, which embodies the friendship between Suzhou and ASEAN and marks the start of a new chapter in cooperation between the two sides.
The year 2025 marks the China-ASEAN Year of People-To-People Exchanges. The exhibition displays over 1,000 philatelic items, including stamps jointly issued by China and ASEAN countries, commemorative stamps for the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and 10 member states of ASEAN, and thematic stamps released by ASEAN countries. The exhibits allow visitors not only to learn more about the long history of friendly exchanges between China and ASEAN, but also to get a glimpse of the natural scenery and folk customs of ASEAN countries as well as the cultural treasures of Suzhou such as classical gardens and silk embroidery.
This year’s exhibition is co-sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Office and the Information Office of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government. It will last until May 18.
