Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism (the Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage) announced the fifth batch of 419 protection units for provincial-level intangible cultural heritage (ICH) representative items. Suzhou has 41 units making the list.
Among the 41 newly-designated ICH protection units in Suzhou City, there is 1 protection unit for folk literature, 1 for traditional music, 4 for traditional dance, 2 for traditional sports, entertainment and acrobatics, 6 for traditional art, 18 for traditional techniques, 5 for traditional medicine, and 4 for folk customs.
